Old Texts

I have scanned and made some old (well out of copyright!) text into web documents and pdf files. So far they are:

William Stukely, 1719; 'An Account of the Impression of the almost Entire Sceleton of a large Animal in a very hard Stone, lately presented the Royal Society, from Nottinghamshire; Philosophical Transactions, vol. 30, no. 360, pp. 963-968, 1 pl. (thanks to Mike Everhart for providing the correct reference - I was working from a photocopy)
De la Beche and Conybeare, 1821; Notice of the discovery of a new Fossil Animal, forming a link between the Ichthyosaurus and Crocodile, together -with general remarks on the Osteology of the Ichthyosaurus ; Transactions of the Geological Society of London, Second series, Vol 5 (4) pp 559-594
Conybeare, 1824; On the Discovery of an almost perfect Skeleton of the Plesiosaurus.; Transactions of the Geological Society of London, Second series; Vol 1; pp 381-389
Thomas Hawkins Thomas Hawkins, 1834; 'Memoirs of Ichthyosauri and Plesiosauri'; published by Relfe and Fletcher, London
Thomas Hawkins, 1840; 'The Book of the Great Sea-Dragons'; published by William Pickering, London

I will be adding more as time and resources allow. If anyone has already converted any suitable documents into an electronic format and would like to include them here, please contact me.

Mike Everhart has made available a number of old (and not so old) texts relevant to plesiosaur research on his excellent web site, www.oceansofkansas.com.. This is a valuable resource especially for European workers who may not be able to access older American texts easily.
